You always meet people that will walk in and out of your life. There are few that will stay. When you’ve been friends with someone for over 10 years, you realize they are one of those rare people.
I’ve known Mark since the third grade, and we’ve been through it all together. Nerdy phases, break-ups, make-ups, hellos, goodbyes, etc.
He goes to school nine hours away in South Carolina, but when I need him he’s always just a phone call away.
Another thing that makes him one of my favorite people to talk to is the fact that we don’t text 24/7 or even every day. We call each other. I hate texting and so does he. We catch up when its been too long, call when we need advice, and see each other when we can.
It also took me 6 years to get my license, and he drove out of his way every time we hung out to come pick me up. He never complained about it once. That’s a true friend!
The only constant guy in my life: my brother. Scott has been on this planet a whole ten minutes longer than me, and he never lets me forget it.
People always ask “Can you read each other’s minds?”, ” Do you feel pain when he gets hurt?”, and “do you guys look alike?”. As annoying as I thought those questions were, now as I get older I think they’re pretty interesting.
My twin is 6’5″ and I’m 5’6″. He has bright blue eyes and black hair. We aren’t identical, we’re fraternal. He looks like he’s at least 3 years older than me.
None of that matters. We didn’t get along for quite awhile, but ever since we left for different schools we’ve been closer. If I ever have good news dealing with the radio station or school, he is one of the first people I tell.
Another great thing about having a sibling your exact age, they understand the stress you are going through. We applied for internships at the same time, starting looking for off campus housing at the same time, etc. No matter what the topic is, I can talk to him.
He may be the most overprotective person in my life, but he’s 100% honest with me and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
As siblings, especially twins, we may disagree or argue on some things but he will always be the number one guy in my life.
Tips For Conquering Finals
I realized that this is my seventh semester taking finals, and I still don’t know how to do it right.
After viewing this video, it gives some pretty funny, yet helpful hints that can help students with finals. His accurate description of how students feel is comforting. What isn’t so comforting is the fact that his first tip says to go to the library, which Millersville doesn’t have!
I’m stressing out about my final papers, projects and exams and this video gave me a good laugh!

I am currently the Station Manager (President) of Millersville’s student run campus radio station. I have been a part of WIXQ for over three years and I have enjoyed every second of it.
Music is something I have always enjoyed and it has never let me down. It’s the first thing I became a part of in the broadcast department, and I’ll be a part of it until the minute I graduate. WIXQ is a free-format station which means all DJs can play whatever they want!
Music is my one constant escape from the craziness of my senior year. To be fair, being Station Manager adds stress, but it is completely worth it. I love so much about college radio.
Along with being able to play the music I love, I get to share it with listeners and other fellow college students. I play all requests which gives them what they want too. Not only do I love WIXQ because I get to play and listen to a ton of music, but also because of the friends that I have made.
Some friends have become like family. I eat lunch with them almost every day of the week and they hear me complain about everything. Although they probably get annoyed with me all the time, they are always there for me.
No matter how old you are, or what you are doing in life, you should be a part of something like WIXQ; where you feel so comfortable and it feels like your home away from home.
Every girl should give their mom some credit. You may bicker at times, but think about it. She had to give you the birds and the bees talk and change your diaper twenty years ago. She knows you more than anyone else, whether you like it or not.
My mom is honestly one of my best friends. She supported me through all of my awkward phases when I was a young teen, and still supports me with the path I’m taking in life currently.
My mom, or Patti as my friends from school call her, is someone I can always call when I’m freaking out about huge exams or money problems.
Even years after giving me life lessons, she still proves to me that everything will be okay in the end.
When I graduate I could be thousands of miles away, and my mom would be upset. However, she would put that permanent smile on her face and support me no matter what.
She always says, “As long as you’re happy, I’m happy”. It’s the best thing a person can here when they aren’t sure where life will take them.
Hi, I’m Shannon. I’m starting this just to sort out my mess of a life. I am a senior broadcasting student that is completely freaked out about post-grad life. I graduate in May and everything is changing and moving so fast. Although there have been so many changes, I like to think of the constants in my life. Even more specific, the people and things that have impacted me. This blog is dedicated to the things and people that have kept me sane.
